Alan denies sponsoring campaign posters

A two-time flag-bearer aspirant of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr. Alan Kyerematen, has denied knowledge of posters campaigning for him for the 2016 presidential candidacy of the party.
He said the persons putting up the posters were acting on their own accord and not on his express instructions.
Mr. Kyerematen in a statement issued in Accra Tuesday, said he had faith in the legal challenge being mounted by three leaders of the NPP against the declaration of President Mahama as winner of the December polls.

PRESS STATEMENT
It has come to the notice of Mr. Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen, former Minister of Trade and Industry in the Kufuor Administration, and a two time contestant of the flagbearership of the New Patriotic Party, that some unknown persons have mounted a poster campaign purporting to support Mr. Kyerematen for the presidential nomination of the NPP for the 2016 presidential elections.
The said posters are reported to have been put up in some regional capitals, districts capitals and many other towns around the country announcing a so-called “Alan for 2016” campaign.
Mr. Alan Kyerematen hereby informs the National Leadership of the NPP, the party’s teeming members and supporters, as well as the general public that neither he nor any agent of his has authorized or initiated any campaign as the said posters purport to promote.
He further affirms that in view of the current court case being pursued by the party, which Mr. Kyerematen believes is in the supreme interest of the party, he, as a committed and loyal member of the party, will not do anything to detract from the attention and support the petitioners need from the entire party to see the matter to its logical conclusion.
In view of the weight of evidence the petitioners in the court case have put before the courts, it is believed that detractors of our party who are nervous about the possible outcome of the case have resorted to acts aimed at undermining the unity and cohesion of the New Patriotic Party and should such attempts succeed, these elements then hope to take advantage of a disunited NPP.
Mr. Alan Kyerematen therefore calls on all genuine party members and loyalists to completely disregard this so-called “Alan for 2016” poster campaign that is being waged by enemies of the party, and stand solidly behind Nana Akufo Addo, the 2012 Presidential Candidate of the Party, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia his running mate and Jake Obetsebi-Lamptey our party chairman in the pursuit of the case in which they are obviously seeking justice for the party and all Ghanaians in general.
It is the considered opinion of Mr. Alan Kyerematen that the leadership of our party, party members and supporters and the general public should treat the current so called “Alan for 2016” poster campaign with the contempt it deserves and see it as the work of people who want to sow discord and disunity in our great party the NPP.
Signed ( for Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen)
