Woman slaughtered by couple she helped

Four people have been arrested after a Cape Town woman was sexually assaulted and murdered, allegedly by a couple she had rescued from the streets.
Hester Koch, 62, was strangled on her Phillippi farm, apparently by a stranded couple she had given accommodation to in a shack on her property, reported the Cape Argus.
Jade White, 24, Koch’s granddaughter, said her grandmother had been “viciously murdered by the people she did everything for”.
White said Koch had felt sorry for the couple and their two children after finding them begging at traffic lights. The woman was pregnant and they said they had lost everything in a fire.
Koch took them home to the farm where she lived with her partner, Arnold Schultz.
White had helped the woman give birth a few weeks ago. “I should have left her there to suffer. I am angry and bitter and wish my gran never met them.”
Koch’s granddaughter described how a few weeks after moving to the farm, the couple started smoking tik and became “cheeky”, with the grandmother eventually asking them to leave.
Koch’s partner last heard from her when she left the house to talk to the woman.
He was later woken up by the couple who tied him up, told him that Koch was lying dead in the shed and stole their possessions, including a bakkie.
A police spokesperson confirmed that four people had been arrested.
