Dennis Appiah Larbi-Ampofo heads NUGS as President

The National Union of Ghana Students (NUGS) has elected Dennis Dennis Appiah Larbi-Ampofo as President and nine others to steer the affairs of the Union for the 2022/2023 academic year.
He was elected at the union’s 56th National Delegates Congress held at the Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT) Village, Ejusi in the Ashanti Region of Ghana from Wednesday 30th – Saturday 2nd April, 2022.
Dennis Appiah Larbi-Ampofo has been confirmed as the President elect for the National Union of Ghana Students (NUGS) by NUGS Electoral Commission.
The others are Joshua Oppey, General Secretary with 562 votes, Alex Oppong Kyekyeku
International Relations Secretary, 500 votes, Francisca lynn Willis, Financial Secretary 585, Ransford Tege, Secretary for education 452 votes, Kojo Badu Kwarteng, Welfare and Societies Secretary, 579 votes, Issah Ahmed, Union development secretary, 782 votes, Amin mohammed, Secretary for Innovation, Entrepreneurship and skills development, 797 votes and Jessica Twumasi, Women Development Secretary 847 votes.
There would be a new paradigm shift to the meaning to Aluta Continua – Dennis Appiah Larbi-Ampofo hinted.
He again mentioned he will operate the all inclusive style of leadership for the promotion of students interest at large,”I shall work hard to make sure students across the country benefit from my progressive leadership” .
Addressing delegates and observers after the election, the Press and Information Secretary for the Union, Alexander Owusu Ansah indicated that, a total of 1,054 delegates were duly present and voted successfully.
In his address with the press after the exercise, the President of NUGS, Emmanuel Yiadom Boakyem commended the delegates for the orderliness thus far. “The congress has been very smooth, and incident free”, he added.
Giving details of the election results on the presidential election, the electoral commission announced that the following valid votes were obtained by the three candidates respectively, he said, Dennis Appiah Larbi-Ampofo had 824 valid votes, Kwesi Atuahene had a total of 197 valid votes and Charles Oppong obtained 33 valid votes cast.
The newly elected national president of NUGS Dennis Appiah Larbi-Ampofo will take over from Emmanuel Boakye Yiadom, the outgoing President soon.
