Drivers and market women clash with traditional council at Agogo Lorry station
Drivers at the Agogo Lorry station are protesting against the traditional council of Agogo over what they describe as unfair treatment by the traditional leaders of Agogo.
Reports gathered indicate the traditional council on Wednesday brought in caterpillars to demolish the Lorry station after they communicated to the drivers to vacate the place.
One of the drivers speaking with Omanhene Yaw Adu Boakye on Kessben FM said the new place which has been demarcated for them by the traditional council is currently being occupied by the market women who trade plantain.
The market women who have been told to also accommodate the drivers are not happy with the directive of the traditional council.
“They met us and told us that we should relocate to a new place known as Russia park. That place is where the market women who sell plantain are situated.
This morning we’re here and they have brought Caterpillars to demolish the place. They say we should go to the Russia park but meanwhile, that place is occupied by the market women” He stressed.
The drivers insist they are not going to leave the Agogo Lorry station for anywhere as they have built a 2-storey building at the place which houses their offices.
Reports say the traditional council intends to demolish the Lorry station and use the place for a Durbar grounds.
