It’s not a sin for Duffour to contest Mahama, I will support him – Yaw Boateng Gyan
High ranking member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr. Yaw Boateng Gyan has stated there’s nothing wrong for Dr. Kwabena Duffour, former finance minister of Ghana to contest former President John Dramani Mahama for the NDC flagbearership race.
Speaking on ”Maakye” with Omanhene Yaw Adu Boakye on Kessben 92.9, 93.3 FM and Kessben TV, the former Chief organizer of the NDC noted that, Kwabena Duffour, his close allied has not thought about contesting the flagbearership but in the event where he contests, he will throw his support behind him.
“Journalists should do the needful by calling to find out the truth when they come across anything. I have not been around lately. I just returned to Accra and was told a newspaper has written saying I have declared my support for Kwabena Duffour to contest John Dramani Mahama for the NDC flagbearership position.”
”It is not true, let me state it. I have not held any discussion with Kwabena Duffour over any flagbearership position. I, Kwabena Duffour, and our former Chairman, Kwabena Agyei have been very close friends but we have not even discussed that. The only discussion we had about him (Kwabena Duffour) was becoming the running mate for the party some time ago and also ensuring that the party will have a very strong foundation at grassroots levels.”
”For flagbearership position, we are not there yet. It’s also not a sin for someone like Kwabena Duffour to contest John Dramani Mahama for the NDC flagbearership position. He’s a party member, been in the party for all these years, and if he decides to contest, that is not a sin and I will support him” says Mr. Yaw Boateng Gyan.”
Reports of Dr. Kwabena Duffour contesting John Dramani Mahama for the NDC flagbearership position continue to gain ground since last week. Dr. Kwabena Duffour has not denied or confirmed the circulating reports.
