Change mode of appointing IGP, others – Bishop JY Adu

Founder and leader of the New Jerusalem Chapel at Kumasi Sokoban Ampayoo in the Ashanti Region, Bishop Dr. John Yaw Adu has called for constitutional reform to change the mode of appointing the Inspector General of Police (IGP) and heads of other security services.

That, he said, was necessary to strengthen the heads of security services and insulate them from political intrusion and patronage.

Dr. John Yaw Adu argued that “it was only when the IGP and other security heads were clothed with the independence of tenure that they could arrest and uproot crime and violence menace from the country’s body politics,” He exclusively told Omanhene Nana Yaw Adu Boakye on Amansan Ntie On Kessben FM/TV

He said such independence would allow the security services to deal with crimes without fear or favour.
