Okudzeto Ablakwa, the member of Parliament for North Tongu Constituency in the Volta Region has filed another urgent question which seeks to drag the National Security Minister, Hon Albert Kan Dapaah to appear before Parliament to answer questions relating to President Akufo-Addo’s foreign trips and chartered private flight expenses.
The Ranking Member on the committee of Foreign Affairs in Parliament noted that he has invoked Order 64 which allows the National Security Minister Hon. Kan Dapaah to respond to the questions within 10 days in Parliament.
The National Security Minister is expected to appear before the house to answer some queries on President Akufo-Addo’s recent foreign trips which have become the subject of public discourse in the past few weeks.
Answering questions on the floor of parliament from the MP, Hon. Ken Ofori-Atta indicated that if the house needs all the details of President travels, the best place to get them is the National Security Ministry.
Mr. Ofori Atta noted that all the costs of the President’s international and foreign trips are handled by the National Security Ministry but not his office.
This explanation from the Finance Minister did not go well with Mr. Okudzeto Ablakwa and filed another urgent question for the National Security Minister to come and provide all the details.
Speaking to Omanhene Yaw Adu Boakye on Kessben Maakye, the North Tongu MP stressed that, the government plot to rubbish the matter will not materialised.
“Let me serve notice here, what I see as strategy is that, they are laying grounds for the National Security Minister to come and tell us that the transaction is the national security’s transaction so they can’t give details.
“It is a game they are playing with Ghanaians minds, look at their body language. Since I broke this news, not a single statement that has come from the government and its machinery, the Information Ministry, they are pretending as if they have not heard, pretending they don’t have the facts” Mr. Ablakwa said.
According to him, such conduct is disappointing and disgusting under President Akufo-Addo and Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta. Added this current government is setting a very bad precedent for the next generation to come.
