Managing Editor of the “Ghanaian Observer” newspaper, Egbert Faibille Jnr., has pontificated that the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) 2012 Presidential candidate, Nana Addo Danquah Akufo-Addo, has no choice but to contest in the upcoming flagbearership race.
According to Lawyer Egbert Faibille, the two time presidential hopeful has no alternative but to put himself up for election, despite the fact, he is yet to announce his decision on his political future.
“I have heard Nana Akufo Addo’s position on the matter, that, he wants to go on a break and do some introspection and comeback. Well, as far as I’m concerned, Nana Addo has no option than to contest. As far as I’m concerned….so he would contest,” he said.
Egbert Faibille, who was part of the Legal Team of the Petitioners in the just gone by Election Petition suit, made these remarks on Citi Fm’s ‘Big Issues’, during a panel discussion on the projected 15 persons likely to contest the NPP’s flagbearership race.
His pronouncement comes on the heels of a similar statement by the NPP Chief Scribe, Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie who claims Nana Addo is the most marketed person in the NPP and would make sure Nana Addo runs for re-election as the presidential candidate, even if he (Nana Addo) is in a wheelchair.
Lawyer Egbert Faibille also opined that in the event that Nana Akufo Addo decides not to contest, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the second petitioner in the election petition case, is his best candidate to lead the NPP.
“I think that Dr. Bawumia has acquitted himself very well. I think that Dr. Bawumia represents an emerging force in the New Patriotic Party and in the event that Nana Akufo Addo doesn’t run, the man to look out for, is Dr. Bawumia,” he intimated.
