Baba Rahman to Chelsea: Blues agree £17.6m deal to sign Augsburg left-back

Chelsea have agreed a £17.6m fee for Augsburg left-back Baba Rahman, according to reports in Germany.Blues manager Jose Mourinho had said on Friday, ahead of tomorrow’s Community Shield match against Arsenal, that he has been trying to sign a left-back, after Filipe Luis was sold back to Atletico Madrid last week.
“We are trying to sign a left-back,” he said. “We have only one [Cesar Azpilicueta]. We are trying.”
The 21-year-old Ghanaian Rahman signed for the German side last summer, and made 31 appearances in the Bundesliga.
Rahman impressed in the German league last season, and was nominated as the best left-back in his first season, but lost out to Bayern Munich’s Juan Bernat.
The Blues have also been heavily linked with the signing of Everton defender John Stones in this transfer window.
Chelsea have brought in goalkeeper Asmir Begovic and Radamel Falcao this summer.
