A PURPOSE-DRIVEN LIFE: The Inspiring Journey of Prince Nashiru Kanton Luriwie Esq. – From Classroom Teacher to Lawyer
From Tumu to the Bar: A Story of Purpose, Planning and Grace

Lawyer Prince Nashiru Kanton Luriwie Esq. has shared a deeply inspiring walk-through of his life journey – a journey that proves that greatness is not by chance, but by purpose, planning and prayer.
In a personal reflection titled “A Purpose-Driven Life – A Walk-Through The Life Journey,” the newly called Barrister and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Ghana traces his path from a modest WASSCE result in 2000 to being called to the Ghana Bar on October 9, 2026.
Teaching as a Stepping Stone
When he left Tumu Senior High/Technical School in 2000, his results were not excellent, but good enough for teacher training. He entered Tumu Training College, now Tumu College of Education, in 2001 to train as a Certificate ‘A’ teacher.
“Whilst in college, I was clear in my mind that teaching was not my destination but a stepping stone,” he recalls, crediting his venerable Uncle Dickson Dimah Kanton for that advice.
Determined to move forward, he registered for private WAEC to better his results – a journey he undertook with his great friend Alhassan Duani Amin Esq in Wa.
After college, he was posted to Gwollu Wuljua JHS together with his bosom friend Gbanha Bawa Siddique, PhD, to open the new JHS at Wuljua under Teacher Kofi Duoso. He says their record of service still speaks for itself – res ipsa loquitur.
After two years of teaching, he gained admission to the University for Development Studies (UDS), Tamale, to study BSc. Agriculture Technology, specializing in Economics and Extension. He later returned to the classroom at Jawia JHS for another two years.
Gas to UK and Back
While preparing to study MA Economic Policy Management at the University of Ghana under a JICA Capacity Building Scholarship, he got employed in 2012 by the newly incorporated Ghana National Gas Company Limited as the nation prepared to build its first-ever gas processing plant and pipeline network. He put his Masters dream on hold to be part of history.
In 2014, he won a highly competitive British Council-managed scholarship funded by Tullow Ghana to study MSc. Operations and Supply Chain Management at the University of Newcastle upon Tyne in the United Kingdom.
“Even before I got the scholarship, I had started a Commonwealth Executive MBA at KNUST,” he reveals. He deferred it for a year and completed it upon his return.
The Law Dream – From GIMPA to Ghana School of Law
After a few years of work, he enrolled at the Faculty of Law, Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA) for his LL.B, completing in 2024.
He was deliberate: “I was clear in my mind that I needed to do the course in record time to enable me pursue the professional law course at Ghana School of Law within 5 years.”
Weekends for studies, weekdays for classes and work. No social events. The sacrifice paid off.
He sat the competitive Ghana School of Law entrance exams in 2024 and passed with ease – ranking among the top 100 out of over 5,000 candidates at his first attempt. At GSL, he applied himself diligently, passed all bar examinations, and was duly called to the Ghana Bar on 9th October, 2026.
No Quick Fixes – His Blueprint for Success
Lawyer Kanton Luriwie says his modest achievements didn’t happen by chance, but by purpose, goals, and the support of good men and women. He gives special mention to Mr. Baluri Bukari Kassim, Deputy Managing Director, Eni Ghana, and his family.
Sharing lessons for young people, he outlined his formula:
1. Define Clear, Meaningful Objectives: Find your “Why” and use the SMART framework – Specific, Measurable, Actionable, Rewarding, and Time-specific. Write them down.
2. Shift from Goals to Systems: Focus on daily habits and “if-then” rules to beat decision fatigue.
3. Scale Down the Timeline: Break 12-month goals into 90-day sprints. Start small and review regularly.
4. Balance Structure with Flexibility: Allow goals to shift with life’s seasons and mental health.
5. Trust the Process and Be Prayerful: “The journey may be long and winding, but you may still get to the destination. No quick fixes. Be prayerful. Put your trust in God.”
Gratitude
He concludes with gratitude to his late parents, HRH Kuoro Alhaji Yakubu Luriwie Kanton IV and Nma Salamata Halumuah Jawol Kanton, his big brother Fuseini Kanton, the entire Kanton Family, and to his wife, “my beautiful Niamatu Amiru Luri and our children – Kaverumuah Nianikia, Haselmeh, Wianiikpaa and Niimakidia Kenchie.”
“Gracias!!!!” he signs off.
From Certificate A teacher in Gwollu Wuljua to Operations & Supply Chain Manager trained in the UK, to MBA holder, to Gas industry professional, and now Barrister and Solicitor of the Supreme Court – Prince Nashiru Kanton Luriwie Esq’s life is indeed a masterclass in living a purpose-driven life.
