Adwoa Safo Backs Israel and Calls for Kantanka Family Unity to Preserve Father’s Legacy

Daughter of the late Apostle Dr. Kwadwo Safo, Sarah Adwoa Safo, has reaffirmed her commitment to reconciliation within the Kantanka family and pledged her full support for her brother, Israel Kwadwo Safo.

In a statement issued on Thursday, October 8, 2026, the former Dome-Kwabenya Member of Parliament said the family must move beyond differences, misunderstandings and grievances that may have emerged following their father’s death.

She said she had chosen the path of reconciliation based on love, mutual respect and the enduring bonds of family.

“I have chosen the path of reconciliation, founded upon love, mutual respect and the enduring undisputed bonds of family,” she said.

Sarah Adwoa Safo said she had immense love and respect for Israel Kwadwo Safo and, in honour of their late father’s wishes, publicly acknowledged and accepted him as the Leader of the Kantanka Family and the Kristo Asfo Church.

She pledged to work with her brother in the interest of the family and the church and to advance their father’s vision and legacy.

“He has my full support, and I state unequivocally that I am prepared and willing to work together with him in the interest of the family and the Church, in furtherance of our father’s Vision and Legacy,” she said.

According to her, the legacy of their late father goes beyond any individual and represents a collective inheritance and responsibility entrusted to his children.

She urged the family to rise above its differences, preserve what their father built and ensure that his ideals continue to inspire future generations.

Sarah Adwoa Safo also called on members of the Kristo Asfo Church, the wider Kantanka family and others associated with their father’s work to acknowledge and respect the unity of the family.

“Let us embrace this new chapter with reconciliation, fraternity and a shared sense of purpose,” she said.

She extended her goodwill and best wishes to Israel Kwadwo Safo and her other siblings as they embark on what she described as a renewed journey of peace and forgiveness.

“May this new chapter bring healing, unity and renewed strength as we come together to honour and advance the legacy of our beloved father,” she added.

The latest declaration follows a succession dispute within the Kantanka family.

In a statement issued on June 21, 2026, the family rejected Israel Kwadwo Safo’s claim to leadership and recognised Sarah Adwoa Safo as head of the family.

The family stated that their father had initially designated Israel as his successor in 2017 but revoked the mandate in 2024 and subsequently revised the succession framework to exclude him.

The dispute also resulted in legal proceedings after two church members challenged Israel’s proposed installation at the Accra High Court, arguing that constitutional amendments had removed him from the line of succession.

Tensions escalated on June 21 following a shooting incident involving Sarah Adwoa Safo. The family said she had gone to serve court documents seeking to halt her brother’s installation when the incident occurred.

However, in a statement issued on July 3, Sarah Adwoa Safo maintained that her actions were intended to uphold her father’s final directives.

She denied seeking control of the church or a share of his estate, arguing that the constitutional changes had removed Israel from the church’s leadership and that she had been appointed head of the family in February 2025.

On July 28, she also disputed her brother’s account of reconciliation efforts involving former President John Agyekum Kufuor.

She said Israel’s meeting with the former president was aimed at seeking support for his church leadership bid, while Israel had maintained that he was seeking the intervention of prominent personalities to restore peace within the family.
