Figures released by the Bank of Ghana after a review of the economy indicate that Ghana’s total public debt has hit GHc89.5 billion as at May 2015.
This is compared to Ghc88.1 billion in April.
The Governor of the Bank of Ghana, who is also the chairman of the Monetary Policy Committee, Dr. Henry Kofi Wampah, made this known at a media briefing in Accra.
He said Ghana’s debt to GDP ratio now stands at sixty-seven point-one percent (67.1%).
He however added that the rate is likely to go down with the appreciation of the cedi.
