Mahama assures Indian companies to invest in Ghana’s pharmaceutical and vaccine sectors

President John Dramani Mahama has urged Indian companies to invest in Ghana’s pharmaceutical and vaccine manufacturing sectors as part of efforts to strengthen the country’s health security.
Speaking during a meeting with India’s External Affairs Minister, Dr. Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, President Mahama said Ghana’s improving economic conditions, declining inflation and relative stability of the cedi make the country an attractive investment destination.
He pointed to Ghana’s partnership with Indian-linked Atlantic Life Sciences and local pharmaceutical company KinaPharma as an example of the potential for expanding domestic vaccine production.
President Mahama also highlighted the growing trade relationship between Ghana and India, noting that Ghana’s exports to India have increased from about US$3 billion to nearly US$7 billion.
He added that Ghana continues to benefit from Indian agricultural machinery, automobiles and buses.
Dr. Jaishankar, on his part, conveyed warm greetings from Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Droupadi Murmu.
He said both leaders expect the comprehensive partnership between Ghana and India to be further strengthened through new areas of cooperation.
The meeting forms part of efforts to deepen the longstanding Ghana-India relationship, particularly in areas including infrastructure, ICT, healthcare, trade and investment.
