1,432 human trafficking survivors receive rehabilitation support – Dr Agnes Naa Momo
The Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection says 1,432 victims of human trafficking have received rehabilitation support as part of government’s efforts to combat trafficking and exploitation.
Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection, Dr Agnes Naa Momo Lartey, disclosed that 181 victims had received trauma-informed care at government shelters, while 69 others had been referred for additional support.
According to Dr Lartey, the interventions are part of broader efforts to ensure that government’s commitment to ending gender-based violence and exploitation is backed by practical support services for survivors.
She added that the Ministry had also strengthened assistance for survivors of domestic violence.
Dr Lartey said 152 survivors had received counselling, legal and financial support, while a shelter had been commissioned in Accra and two others supported in the Upper West and Eastern Regions.
