Catholic Catechists Hold Annual Delegates Conference, Focus On Marriage As Vocation
The National Union of Ghana Catholic Catechists Association (NUGCCA) has held its annual Delegates Conference, bringing together members from across the country to deliberate on issues affecting the association and the growth of the Catholic Church.
The conference, which serves as the highest decision-making platform for the association, created an avenue for members to share experiences, review activities and chart a new path for effective evangelization.
Speaking to OTEC News Reporter Charles Nyamadi, the Secretary of the Association, Ernest Antwi Agyekum, described the theme for this year’s conference, “Marriage as a Vocation and Sacrament,” as timely and relevant.
According to him, marriage remains one of the most critical areas where catechists play a key role in counselling and guiding the faithful.
He explained that resource persons were invited to address pertinent marital challenges, equipping members with practical knowledge to handle cases that are brought before them for counselling.
Mr. Antwi Agyekum noted that with rising marital issues in society, it is important for catechists to have a deeper understanding of marriage as both a divine calling and a sacrament instituted by the Church.
He expressed optimism that the lessons from the conference would help members strengthen families and promote the Catholic teachings on marriage in their respective parishes.
