Kind gesture: HORECE puts shoes on 200 pupils to keep them in school

Hope Renewal Center (HORECE) has donated 200 pairs of sandals to pupils of Asibirim DA Basic School in the Eastern Region as part of efforts to support education and child welfare.

The donation seeks to address a basic need among pupils, some of whom reportedly sometimes walked to school barefoot.

The footwear was presented by Ms. Helena Asamoah on behalf of HORECE Founder, Maame Afua Akoto, to support the children and help improve their school experience.

HORECE, a non-governmental organisation focused on the welfare of children and other vulnerable groups, said the intervention forms part of its broader commitment to supporting children in need.

Headmaster Enoch Arthur, members of staff and the pupils expressed their gratitude to HORECE for the gesture and its support for the school community.

Fiduas Mohammed, a KG 2 pupil who spoke on behalf of the children, thanked the donors and offered praises and blessings for their kindness.

Maame Afua Akoto and the HORECE directorate said the donation was intended to highlight the different forms of support children need to pursue their education and reach their full potential.

They encouraged other organisations and individuals to identify practical needs within communities and support children in ways that can make a meaningful difference in their lives.

HORECE said seemingly small interventions, such as providing footwear, can help create a more supportive environment for children to attend school, learn and develop with dignity.
