A leading member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Upper East Region, Abubakar Ayariga, has declared his intention to contest for the Deputy Regional Treasurer position.
In a declaration issued on Thursday, September 4, 2026, Mr. Ayariga said the decision follows months of broad and intense consultations with stakeholders and party elders in the region.
“After months of broad and intense consultation to contest the Deputy Regional Treasurer position, on this day 4th September 2026 I ABUBAKAR AYARIGA therefore declare my intention to go ahead with my long-time ambition to assist with the financial management of the party in the Region,” he stated.
Mr. Ayariga said his leadership will be rooted in honesty, transparency and accountability.
According to him, accountability is not just a promise but a standard practice in financial management.
He pledged to bring prudent financial management and discipline to help strengthen the party’s financial base in the region ahead of the 2028 general elections.
The Deputy Regional Treasurer position is a key role in the party’s regional administrative structure, responsible for supporting the substantive Treasurer in managing party finances, dues and resource mobilization.
