You can trace a TikToker, but can’t trace cigarette-packaged toffee importers? – Kwesi Mensah
Kwesi Mensah has questioned the authorities’ ability to track down and arrest a TikToker for expressing his views, while the individuals behind the importation of toffees packaged to resemble cigarettes remain at large.
Speaking on Kessben FM, Mensah criticised what he described as an apparent disparity in the authorities’ response to the two situations.
“You have been able to trace a TikToker for speaking his mind, and you can’t trace and arrest the people who imported the toffees that are packaged as cigarettes in Ghana?” he asked.
His comments come amid concerns over the availability of confectionery products designed to resemble cigarettes, with critics warning that such packaging could potentially expose children to smoking-like imagery and normalise tobacco use.
