TH4D Appeals for Government Support for the Black Challenge Ahead of Mexico 2026
Report by Ben LARYEA

Talent Hour for Persons with Disabilities (TH4D) is appealing to the Government of Ghana, corporate organizations and the general public to support the Ghana Amputee National Football Team, the Black Challenge, ahead of the 2026 World Amputee Football Cup (WAFF) in San Juan de los Lagos, Mexico, scheduled for 13th–22nd November 2026.
TH4D commends the Ghana National Paralympic Committee (NPC/APC), its President, Mr. Samson Deen, and the management of the Black Challenge for their efforts in securing Ghana’s participation in this prestigious international tournament. The team will represent Ghana among 24 nations competing for the World Cup title.
TH4D also expresses its sincere appreciation to His Excellency President John Dramani Mahama for his previous US$10,000 support to the Black Challenge following the team’s historic victory at the 2024 African Amputee Football Cup of Nations in Egypt.
However, TH4D is concerned about outstanding financial obligations incurred by players during previous international competitions, particularly the 2023 First African Paralympic Games Championship and the 2024 African Amputee Football Cup of Nations in Egypt.
Reports indicate that some of the Black Challenge’s foreign-based players had to secure personal loans to cover their travel expenses and return to their clubs in Turkey after the 2024 African championship. These financial burdens continue to place significant pressure on the players, despite their commitment and sacrifices in representing Ghana at the international level.
TH4D therefore respectfully appeals to His Excellency the President and the Government of Ghana to consider settling these outstanding obligations and introducing a special reward and incentive package for the Black Challenge in recognition of the team’s achievements, dedication, and sacrifices.
Such support would not only ease the financial burden on the players but also serve as a powerful motivation as they prepare to compete against the world’s best amputee football nations in Mexico.
The Black Challenge has consistently demonstrated resilience, determination, and patriotism. With the necessary financial and institutional support, the team has the potential to achieve another historic milestone and make Ghana proud on the world stage.
Talent Hour for Persons with Disabilities (TH4D) remains committed to promoting inclusion, empowering persons with disabilities, and supporting opportunities that enable athletes with disabilities to reach their full potential.
