NPP Announces Timetable And Fees For National Executive Elections Set For October 3
The National Elections Committee of the New Patriotic Party has released the official timetable and guidelines for the party’s National Executive Elections, with voting scheduled for Saturday, October 3, 2026.
In a memo dated August 11, 2026 and signed by Committee Chairman Hon. Frederick Opare-Ansah, the party said the process will be governed by Article 10(2) of the Party Constitution and other relevant provisions.
Key Dates For The Elections
According to the NEC, the election calendar is as follows:
– Opening and Closing of Nominations: August 17 to August 22, 2026
– Filing of Nominations: August 23 to August 27, 2026
– Vetting: August 31 to September 3, 2026
– Publication of Vetting Results: September 5, 2026
– Appeals: September 6 to September 7, 2026
– NEC/NC Meeting: September 10, 2026
– Notice of Poll: September 14, 2026
– National Delegates Conference / Elections: October 3, 2026
Nomination Fees Announced
Aspirants will be required to pay prescribed fees to pick nomination forms at the National Headquarters in Asylum Down or download them from the party website. Payment must be made in cash or by cash cheque before filing.
The fees are:
– National Chairman: GH¢50,000
– Vice Chairpersons*: GH¢30,000
– General Secretary: GH¢25,000
– All Other Positions: GH¢10,000
– Special Wings – Nasara, Women, and Youth: GH¢8,000
Positions To Be Contested
Delegates will elect nine national positions:
National Chairperson, National Vice Chairpersons, General Secretary, National Treasurer, National Organiser, National Women Organiser, National Youth Organiser, National Nasara Organiser, and National Communication Director.
Eligibility Requirements
To qualify, an aspirant must be a known and active registered party member for at least two years, be of good character, be in good standing with paid dues for two years, and be endorsed by at least one member in good standing across all 16 regions.
For the National Youth Organiser position, candidates must not be 40 years or older. All aspirants must also be cleared by the National Vetting Committee.
Committees Constituted
The National Elections Committee will be chaired by Hon. Frederick Opare-Ansah with Hon. Abena Osei Asare as Vice Chair and Mr. Evans Nimako as Secretary.
The 9-member Vetting Committee will be chaired by Hon. Cecilia Abena Dapaah, while the Appeals Committee will be chaired by Hon. Joe Ghartey.
The memo noted that any NEC member who intends to contest must step down and be replaced by the National Executive Committee.
Who Can Vote
The Electoral College includes members of the National Council, National Executive Committee, Regional and Constituency Executives, External Branch Executives, National Council of Elders, TESCON leaders, 30 National Patrons, Founding Members, all NPP Members of Parliament, and representatives of the Special Organs.
Special provisions were made for voting in the Women, Youth and Nasara wings. For Nasara, voting will include national, regional, constituency, external and TESCON coordinators and deputies.
A quorum of at least one-third of delegates will be required to constitute the National Delegates Conference.
The Electoral Commission of Ghana will conduct the elections under the supervision of the National Elections Committee in line with the Political Parties Act 2000 (ACT 574).
