Mikel Arteta Reportedly Holds Talks With Vinicius Jr as Arsenal Eye Record-Breaking Transfer

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has reportedly taken a hands-on role in the club’s pursuit of Real Madrid star Vinicius Jr, with reports claiming the Spaniard has already spoken directly to the Brazilian about a potential move to the Emirates Stadium.

The Gunners are said to be exploring the possibility of signing the 26-year-old this summer, although any deal would require a record-breaking transfer fee.

Arteta Personally Leads Arsenal’s Pursuit

According to reports from Spain, Arteta has been actively involved in Arsenal’s efforts to convince Vinicius to join the Premier League champions.

The Arsenal boss is believed to have presented the club’s long-term vision to the Brazil international, explaining how he would play a central role in the team’s ambitions to compete for major domestic and European honours.

Reports also suggest Arsenal are prepared to build much of their attacking project for the 2026–27 season around Vinicius, offering him a leading role should he make the switch to north London.

Spanish journalist Sergio Valentin also claimed that Arteta has spoken directly with the winger, outlining both Arsenal’s plans and the importance the club places on signing him.

Contract Uncertainty Fuels Speculation

Vinicius’ future at Real Madrid has become the subject of growing speculation as negotiations over a new contract continue.

Although the Brazilian remains under contract until 2027, reports indicate Real Madrid are unwilling to risk losing one of their biggest stars for a reduced fee in the future.

It is claimed that the Spanish giants are prepared to listen to offers if an agreement over a contract extension cannot be reached.

Real Madrid Set Huge Asking Price

Despite the speculation, Real Madrid are expected to demand a massive fee before considering the sale of Vinicius.

Reports suggest Los Blancos have placed a €150 million (£128.4 million) valuation on the Brazilian winger.

If Arsenal were to meet that asking price, the transfer would become the most expensive signing in Premier League history, surpassing the previous British record.

While no agreement has been reached, Arsenal’s reported interest and Arteta’s personal involvement underline the club’s determination to land one of world football’s biggest stars before the transfer window closes.
