2026 Mid-Year Budget: Ghana will not go back, we are moving forward -Ato Forson

Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson has reaffirmed that Ghana is on a firm path to economic recovery and sustained growth under the leadership of President John Dramani Mahama, stressing that the country will not reverse the progress achieved over the past 18 months.

Presenting the 2026 Mid-Year Budget Review in Parliament, Dr. Forson said the government’s economic reforms have restored fiscal discipline, stabilized the macroeconomy, rebuilt investor confidence, and strengthened key institutions to support long-term development.

According to him, the impact of these reforms is already being felt by ordinary Ghanaians through lower inflation, improved purchasing power, reduced borrowing costs for businesses, and stronger value for workers’ incomes.

“These improvements are not abstract statistics; they are the dividend of sound and competent economic management,” the Finance Minister told Parliament.

Dr. Forson acknowledged that many households continue to face challenges following the country’s recent economic difficulties but said the sacrifices made by Ghanaians have laid a solid foundation for lasting prosperity.

He emphasized that fiscal discipline has been restored, macroeconomic stability has returned, investor confidence has been rebuilt, and the institutions required to sustain these gains have been strengthened under President Mahama’s administration.

“Ghana is not going back. Ghana is moving forward,” Dr. Forson declared, expressing confidence that the government’s reform agenda will continue to deliver sustainable economic growth and improved living standards for all Ghanaians.
