Foreign Ministry to Fast-Track Passport Replacements for Flood Victims

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced an expedited passport replacement program for Ghanaians whose passports were lost or damaged in this week’s devastating floods across the country.

In a press release issued Friday, the Ministry expressed “deepest sympathies to all persons affected” and extended “sincere and deepest condolences to the families and loved ones of the deceased” following floods that caused loss of lives and destruction of property in many parts of Ghana.

One-Week Replacement Window
Recognizing that many citizens may have lost vital travel documents, the Ministry said it will replace all flood-damaged or lost passports within a week.

Affected persons are to contact the Ministry between Friday, July 3 and Friday, July 17, 2026 on the dedicated line: 055 936 8563.

Callers should provide their Name, Date of Birth, and Gender as stated in the lost or damaged passport, along with a contact phone number for easy follow-up.

“Strong Solidarity” with Victims
“The Foreign Ministry expresses strong solidarity with all our affected compatriots,” the statement said. “The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stands in solidarity with all affected persons during this difficult period and remains committed to playing its role in supporting government’s recovery efforts.”

The Ministry did not specify whether fees would be waived but stressed the process would be expedited to ease the burden on flood victims.
