Ghana has Juvenile courts and prisons for children between 12 and 17 – Officials reveal and warn

Officials of the Kumasi Central Prisons have cautioned children and teenagers to stay away from criminal activities, revealing that Ghana has juvenile courts and correctional facilities specifically for minors between the ages of 12 and 17.

Speaking on Kessben Drive with Fante Quoo, the prison officials explained that young offenders who break the law can be processed through the juvenile justice system and sent to juvenile correctional centers designed for underage offenders.

The officials urged parents and guardians to closely monitor their children and instill discipline in them to prevent them from engaging in activities that could lead to arrest and prosecution.

They also encouraged the youth to focus on education and positive behavior, stressing that criminal records and detention at a young age could negatively affect their future opportunities and development.
