NPP Ashanti Regional Chairman Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, has expressed profound sorrow over the death of Mr. Maxwell Kofi Anti, Personal Aide to the MP for Oda, Hon. Akwasi Acquah.

In a statement of condolence issued on Saturday, Chairman Wontumi said he received the news “with profound sadness.” According to him, Mr. Anti died following a fatal accident that occurred during a monitoring exercise of the ongoing Polling Station Executive Elections in the Oda Constituency.

“This unfortunate incident has left all of us deeply shocked and saddened,” he said. “Maxwell was a young and dedicated Party man who served with commitment and passion. His untimely passing in the line of duty to the Party and constituency work is a painful loss not only to his family and loved ones, but also to the entire New Patriotic Party fraternity.”

Chairman Wontumi extended heartfelt condolences to Hon. Akwasi Acquah, the bereaved family, the Oda Constituency Executives, friends, and all party members mourning the loss. He prayed that God would grant the family strength, comfort, and courage to bear what he called an “irreparable loss.”

He also sent prayers to survivors of the accident, singling out the Deputy Constituency Organizer who is currently in critical condition at the Koforidua Regional Hospital.

“My thoughts and prayers are equally with the survivors of the accident, especially the Deputy Constituency Organizer who is currently in critical condition at the Koforidua Regional Hospital. I wish him and all others affected a speedy and full recovery,” the statement read.

With internal party elections ongoing nationwide, Chairman Wontumi urged NPP members to prioritize safety.

“As we continue our internal electoral activities across the country, I wish to strongly urge all Party faithful, Campaign teams, Polling Station Executives, and Supporters across the country to continue exercising caution in their movements and activities during this election period. Let us all remain mindful of one another’s safety as we work together in service to our great Party.”

He concluded with a prayer: “May the soul of our departed brother, Maxwell Kofi Anti, rest peacefully in the bosom of the Almighty.”

The Polling Station Executive Elections are a key part of the NPP’s internal restructuring process ahead of future national and local contests.
