Bank of Ghana losses: In 2022/23 it was a campaign message for the NDC, who are now in Gov’t – Dr Smart Sarpong

Political analyst Smart Sarpong has stated that the Bank of Ghana’s financial losses became a major campaign message for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) during the 2022 and 2023 political period.
Speaking on Kessben TV, Sarpong noted that the NDC heavily criticized the then-governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) over the central bank’s reported losses and broader economic challenges ahead of the elections.
According to him, the situation has now shifted, as the NDC is currently in government and faces the responsibility of addressing the same economic concerns it previously campaigned against.
Sarpong explained that political parties often use economic issues as campaign tools while in opposition, but are later confronted with the realities of governance once they assume power.
