AWLN Ghana Celebrates Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings’ Election as Pan-African Parliament Vice President

The African Women Leaders Network (AWLN) Ghana Chapter has congratulated Hon. Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings on her election as Second Vice President of the Pan-African Parliament.

Dr. Agyeman-Rawlings, Member of Parliament for Klottey-Korle and Co-Chair of AWLN’s Governance & Political Participation Pillar, secured the role at the continental legislative body this month.

In a statement signed by AWLN Ghana Chairperson Dr. Charity Binka, the Network described the election as “both a personal milestone and a moment of national and continental pride.”

“This distinguished elevation reflects Hon. Agyeman-Rawlings’ consistent demonstration of principled leadership, her unwavering commitment to democratic governance, and her deep dedication to advancing the interests of the people she serves,” the statement said.

AWLN Ghana said her election comes at a “critical time” when Africa needs “responsive, inclusive, and visionary leadership” within continental institutions. The Pan-African Parliament, a key organ of the African Union, promotes democratic values, continental integration, and citizen representation.

“For AWLN Ghana, this achievement carries even deeper significance. It represents yet another powerful affirmation of the growing impact and influence of women in leadership across Africa,” Dr. Binka noted.

The Network said her success reinforces AWLN’s mission to support transformative leadership by African women at all levels of decision-making. It also “stands as a beacon of inspiration to countless young women and girls across the continent.”

AWLN Ghana expressed confidence that Dr. Agyeman-Rawlings will bring her experience, passion for service, and advocacy for equity and inclusion to the role. The group expects her tenure to strengthen the Pan-African Parliament and advance policies that respond to the aspirations of African citizens, particularly women and young people.

“We remain steadfast in our efforts to create platforms that nurture, elevate, and sustain women’s leadership in all spheres of society,” Dr. Binka added.

The group wished Hon. Agyeman-Rawlings “great success, wisdom, and strength” as she assumes the new responsibility.
