Confusion rocks Ashanti Akyem central NPP as party members fight executives, MP

Tension has risen in the Asante Akyem Central constituency in the Ashanti Region as New Patriotic Party (NPP) members have raised concerns over the ongoing nationwide membership registration exercise, following allegations of irregularities in the polling station album.

The tension and confusion surrounding the NPP’s registration exercise:Registration Irregularities: As of early May 2026, members have raised alarms regarding irregularities within the polling station album registration, demanding transparency in how the registers are being compiled.

Context of Conflict: These developments follow a nationwide exercise (March 1–31, 2026) aimed at updating voter albums for upcoming internal elections.

Aggrieved members have expressed frustration, with reports suggesting that the process has been marred by issues regarding who is permitted to register.

The members of the New Patriotic Party in the Asante Akyem Central Constituency and we want to draw the attention of the National Executive Committee of the NPP and other Patriots of our Party and the general public to some issues bothering the ongoing Polling Stations Elections in the Asante Akyem Central Constituency which have been made known to the National Executive Committee of our Party in a Petition presented on 20th April 2026 which has not received any attention yet and other infringements to the guidelines provided for the conduct of the Polling Stations elections during the vetting stage.
