UPSA to Host 9th Mini GUSA Games from May 5 as 14 Public Universities Compete

The University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA) will host the 9th Mini GUSA Games from May 5 to May 15, 2026, bringing together athletes from 14 public universities across Ghana.
The Ghana University Sports Association (GUSA) announced the event in a statement released on Sunday, under the theme: “Integrating University Sports with Academic Professionalism.”
This year’s competition will feature Athletics, 3×3 Basketball, Football, Volleyball, Tennis, Table Tennis, and Badminton.
GUSA said the Mini Games remain a key platform for identifying talent to represent Ghana at regional and international levels, while promoting unity, healthy lifestyles, and inter-university relations.
“The Mini GUSA Games remain a cornerstone of university sports development in Ghana,” the President of GUSA said. “They showcase the athletic potential of our students and reinforce the values of discipline, teamwork, and academic excellence that are essential for national progress.”
As host, UPSA said it is committed to delivering a “well-organised and impactful event that reflects both sporting excellence and academic professionalism.”
The Games are sponsored by Fenaam Industries, producers of Peeva beverages, and Ekow Nunoo Enterprise.
GUSA encouraged the public to attend and support the event, noting that the Games contribute to higher education by fostering a balanced student experience that combines academics with physical development, teamwork, and leadership.
