Story: Maurice Otoo

Citizen Ato Dadzie, General Secretary of the Great Consolidated Popular Party (GCPP), has called out what he describes as a culture of impunity and insults in Ghana’s political discourse, urging both politicians and the clergy to be held accountable.
_“Sometimes if someone says a bad thing we must hit on it and condemn it,”_ Dadzie said.
Whilst lamenting the tone of national politics on Kessben Maakye show, he stated, It’s unfortunate we don’t reward honesty in our politics but insult, slashing and impunity.
Referencing internal party contests, Dadzie noted, In NPP presidential primaries they said so many things like someone’s head has ever been opened and many more but NPP saw nothing wrong with it.
Dadzie offered counsel to Dr. Awusi on her recent commentary , “I would rather advise Dr. Awusi to be moderate in her speech though some issues ought to be dealt with”, he said.
On the role of religious leaders, he argued for accountability without shielding. “We must not colourise issues with the clergy, if they do the wrong thing we must criticise it and not meddle it with church activities,” Dadzie stated.
_“I ask, are churches doing enough to signify ourselves as worthy of emulations ?”_
Neither Dr. Awusi nor the NPP has publicly responded to Dadzie’s remarks as of press time.
