President Mahama pledges road network upgrade to support Asesewa 24-hour economy market

President John Dramani Mahama has pledged major improvements in road connectivity in Asesewa, assuring that feeder roads will be fully integrated into the broader development framework supporting the newly launched 24-hour economy market project.
Speaking during his visit to Asesewa to cut sod for 24-hour economy market , the President stressed that the success of the market would depend largely on efficient transport infrastructure to ensure the smooth movement of goods and traders.
“You cannot have an economic centre and a big market like Asesewa without good roads to bring the goods to the market,” President Mahama stated.
He noted that government is already rolling out nationwide road infrastructure expansion programmes, including World Bank-supported feeder road initiatives, from which Asesewa will benefit.
“As you are aware, we are doing major road construction all over the country. We have a programme under the World Bank for feeder roads,” he said.
President Mahama further revealed that discussions will be held with key stakeholders to prioritise Asesewa’s road network within the market development agenda.
“I will speak to the MP, and I have told him that when we get back to Accra, he should see me and the Roads Minister so that we can get Asesewa’s share of those roads,” he disclosed.
He emphasised that integrating road infrastructure into the market project is crucial for ensuring its long-term viability and economic impact.
“We are going to add the feeder roads in Asesewa to this project so that we improve the road network in order to make the best use of the market,” he added.
According to the President, without reliable road access, even modern market facilities would fail to achieve their full economic potential.
“If you put a market without a good road network, it will not realise its full potential,” he cautioned.
