Mahama marks Gonjaland Youth Association @50

President John Dramani Mahama has reaffirmed his government’s commitment to accelerating development in the Savannah Region as he joined the Gonjaland Youth Association in Buipe to celebrate its 50th anniversary.

Addressing a gathering of youth, traditional leaders, and residents, President Mahama outlined a series of key interventions aimed at transforming the region, with a strong focus on education and economic empowerment.

He announced plans to establish Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) schools in Tinga and Busunu, expand infrastructure in Senior High Schools, and upgrade selected Category B schools to Category A status to improve access and quality of education.

Highlighting the importance of education in national development, the President stated, “Education is the bridge between where we are and where we aspire to be.”

Beyond education, President Mahama revealed plans to construct a modern sports stadium in the region to nurture talent and promote youth development.

He also disclosed that government intends to build 24-hour markets in every district across the Savannah Region to stimulate local economies, create jobs, and support small businesses, particularly among the youth.

The President noted that these initiatives form part of a broader strategy to unlock the region’s potential and improve livelihoods, urging the youth to take advantage of emerging opportunities to contribute to national development.
