Jesus Cares School Marks 25 Years; Dr. Amina Champions Purposeful Social Media Use

Jesus Cares School has marked its Silver Jubilee with a grand celebration, commemorating 25 years of academic excellence and character development. The milestone event brought together educators, parents, students, and traditional leaders under the theme: “Academic and Moral Excellence for Holistic Development of the Learner in the Era of Social Media: The Role of Stakeholders.”
The atmosphere was filled with pride and reflection as the school highlighted its journey from humble beginnings to becoming a respected center of learning.
*Transforming the Digital Narrative*
Delivering the keynote address, the Proprietress, Dr. Amina Achiaa Asiedu Amoah, challenged prevailing perceptions about social media, particularly among the youth. She described the digital space not as a threat, but as a powerful resource if used intentionally.
“The digital era is not a threat if we approach it with a sense of purpose,” she stated.
Dr. Amina urged students to shift from passive consumption to purposeful engagement, encouraging them to leverage social media as a tool for research, learning, and professional networking.
She emphasized that achieving holistic development requires a collaborative effort among key stakeholders:
Students must demonstrate discipline and intellectual curiosity
Teachers must serve as digital guides, directing learners to credible resources
Parents must provide moral guidance to ensure responsible use of technology
*Honouring 25 Years of Dedication*
As part of the celebration, outstanding students and staff were recognized for their contributions to the school’s success. The highlight of the awards ceremony was the recognition of Paul Adjei, affectionately known as Sir Paul.
Having served the institution since its inception, Sir Paul was named Best Teacher in honor of his 25 years of dedicated service. His unwavering commitment earned him a standing ovation from an appreciative audience.
“*Heaven Can Wait”: A Reward for Service*
In a touching moment, Eugen Kofi Amankwa, CEO of EUGENMAT Travel and Consult, made a generous pledge to reward Sir Paul’s long-standing service.
Challenging the common notion that “a teacher’s reward is in heaven,” Mr. Amankwa announced that he would fully fund a travel passport for Sir Paul and provide an additional GH₵1,000 to support his travels.
“We must learn to honor our heroes while they are with us,” he remarked.
The gesture drew widespread applause and underscored the importance of appreciating educators in tangible ways.
*Looking Ahead*
As the curtains fell on the Silver Jubilee celebration, Jesus Cares School reaffirmed its commitment to shaping future leaders who are academically sound, morally grounded, and digitally competent.
With a renewed focus on blending traditional values with modern technological skills, the school is poised to build on its legacy and make an even greater impact in the years ahead under the leadership of Dr. Amina.
