Whether sole sourcing or not, let’s just ensure there is value for money – Hon Akuoko Frimpong

Former District Chief Executive for Sekyere Central, Akuoko Frimpong, has called for a stronger focus on value for money in public procurement, stressing that the method of contract award should not overshadow the ultimate benefit to citizens.
Speaking on Kessben FM with Wofa Kofi Appiah, Frimpong noted that debates over sole-sourcing versus competitive tendering must be balanced with a commitment to efficiency, quality, and accountability.
“Whether contracts are sole-sourced or competitively bid, the key issue is ensuring that the state gets real value for money,” he stated, emphasizing the need for strict oversight and transparency in all procurement processes.
His comments come amid ongoing national discussions on public sector contracting and infrastructure delivery, where concerns about cost-effectiveness and governance continue to dominate political discourse.
Frimpong further urged policymakers and implementing agencies to adopt rigorous monitoring mechanisms to guarantee that projects deliver intended outcomes and meet acceptable standards.
