If you intend to give Zakat al-Fitr, it must be offered before leaving for the Eid – Mallam Umar Balley
Islamic scholar Mallam Umar Balley has urged Muslims to ensure they give their Zakat al-Fitr before leaving for Eid prayers, stressing its importance in completing the رمضان fast.
Speaking on Kessben FM with Wofa Kofi Appiah, he explained that Zakat al-Fitr is a mandatory act of charity that must be fulfilled before heading to the Eid grounds.
According to him, the practice is meant to purify the fast of any shortcomings and to support the less privileged so they can also celebrate Eid al-Fitr with dignity and joy.
Mallam Balley emphasized that delaying the payment until after the Eid prayer defeats its purpose, noting that it should reach beneficiaries in time to meet their needs on the day of celebration.
He therefore encouraged Muslims to prepare in advance and ensure their Zakat is properly distributed, reinforcing the spirit of compassion, sharing, and unity that defines the end of Ramadan.
