Foreign Affairs Minister Hosts Ramadan Iftar for Muslim Diplomats and Staff

The Minister for Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has hosted the second edition of the Ramadan Iftar gathering for Muslim staff and members of the diplomatic corps in Accra.
The event, held during the holy month of Ramadan, brought together Muslim staff from the Ministry and representatives of the diplomatic community for prayers and the traditional breaking of the fast.
In his remarks, Minister Ablakwa said the initiative reflects the Ministry’s commitment to fostering a workplace culture that respects religious diversity and promotes unity among staff.
“It was a great honour to host our Muslim colleagues at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and members of the diplomatic corps for this Iftar during the holy month of Ramadan,” he stated.
The Minister noted that the programme has now been institutionalized following its successful introduction last year.
“I am particularly delighted that this gathering has now become an institutional event. It forms part of our broader effort to build a more inclusive, cohesive and respectful diplomatic service,” he added.
Ablakwa also used the occasion to extend Ramadan greetings to Muslims across Ghana and beyond, including constituents in his parliamentary constituency.
“Ramadan Kareem to all our Muslim brothers and sisters, including my beloved Muslim constituents in North Tongu. May Allah accept our supplications and continue to bless our nation,” he said.
The Iftar gathering at the ministry has become a platform for strengthening relations between Ghana’s diplomatic service and members of the international community who observe the holy month.
Ramadan is a period marked by fasting, prayer, charity, and reflection, and is observed by Muslims worldwide.
