Daily minimum wage should be at least GHC100 in Ghana – NPP member Beatrice Owarewaa (Nana Yaa) tells NDC Mahama-led Gov’t

A member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Beatrice Owarewaa, popularly known as Nana Yaa, has called for Ghana’s daily minimum wage to be increased to at least GHC100.

Speaking on Kessben TV with host KOD, Nana Yaa argued that the current wage structure does not adequately reflect the rising cost of living in the country. She stressed that many workers are struggling to meet basic needs, including food, transportation, rent, and healthcare.

According to her, setting the daily minimum wage at GHC100 would help improve living standards and restore dignity to the Ghanaian workforce. She noted that economic policies must prioritize the welfare of ordinary citizens, especially low-income earners who are most affected by inflation and economic hardship.

The discussion formed part of a broader conversation on economic reforms and social protection measures. Nana Yaa emphasized that while adjustments may pose challenges, bold steps are necessary to ensure fair compensation for workers across the country.
