The John Mahama 24-hour economy is a facade, over a year now, nothing to show – Dr Ekua Amoakoh

Dr. Ekua Amoakoh, Deputy Spokesperson for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has criticized President John Dramani Mahama’s proposed 24-hour economy, describing it as a “facade” with little to show after more than a year of public discussion.

Speaking on Kessben FM’s Amansan Tie with host KOD, Amoakoh argued that the much-touted policy has remained largely theoretical, with no clear implementation framework or tangible results on the ground. According to her, Ghanaians are yet to see how the policy would practically benefit businesses, workers, and the broader economy.

She questioned the credibility of the proposal, stating that after over a year of promotion, there is still no evidence of pilot projects, legislative backing, or measurable outcomes. “It has been more than a year, and there is nothing to show. The so-called 24-hour economy is just a facade,” she asserted.

Dr Amoakoh contrasted the idea with what she described as Dr. Bawumia’s record of digital and economic reforms, emphasizing policies that have been implemented and can be verified.

She urged the public to focus on policies with clear plans, timelines, and accountability rather than slogans.
