The GES boss must go – Dr. Owusu Poku Calls for Leadership Change in ‘messed up’ Ghana’s educational structure

Dr. Owusu Poku, a leading member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has called for the removal of the Director-General of the Ghana Education Service (GES), following what he described as a serious mishandling of the country’s educational curriculum.

Speaking on Kessben FM with KOD, Dr. Poku expressed strong dissatisfaction with recent developments in the education sector.

According to him, the confusion and inconsistencies surrounding the implementation of the new curriculum have negatively affected teachers, students, and parents nationwide. He argued that the situation reflects poor leadership and inadequate planning at the highest level of the GES.

“The GES boss must go,” Dr. Poku insisted, stressing that Ghana’s education system is too important to be managed through trial and error. He called on authorities to take decisive action to restore confidence in the system and ensure a well-structured, clear, and effective curriculum for learners.
