Obuasi Trade Show 2025 Set to Captivate Audiences with Biggest Edition from December 17

The Obuasi Trade Show Consortium, organizers of the annual Obuasi Trade Show, has announced that this year’s edition will be one of the most exciting since the event’s inception in 2019.

Speaking at the media launch, Board Chairman of the Consortium, Aboagye Ohene Adu, said valuable lessons from previous editions have shaped what promises to be the most impactful Trade Show yet. He emphasized that beyond the highly anticipated trade and exhibition activities, a wide range of exciting programmes have been planned to make this year’s event truly memorable.

Mr. Ohene Adu commended AngloGold Ashanti for its consistent and substantial support to the Trade Show, noting that businesses in Obuasi have expanded significantly due to the initiative. He urged residents and business owners to fully embrace the opportunities presented, highlighting the ultimate goal of the Trade Show—to diversify and strengthen the local economy.

The 2025 Obuasi Trade Show will run from December 17 to December 20, 2025, at the Black Park near Len Clay Sports Stadium.

Initiated in 2019 under AngloGold Ashanti’s 3-Year Social Management Plan (SMP 2019–2021), the Trade Show has grown from a simple exhibition into a powerful economic development platform. Its success led to its continuation under the company’s 10-year Socio-Economic Development Plan (SEDP 2022–2031).

This year’s edition is being organized through a strong partnership involving the Obuasi Municipal Assembly, Obuasi East District Assembly, and Akrofuom District Assembly, with strategic support from AngloGold Ashanti Obuasi Mine, the Ghana Export Promotion Authority (GEPA), and other key partners. GEPA’s first-time participation is expected to significantly enhance exhibitor capacity in key areas such as product packaging, branding, and meeting global market standards.

Addressing the gathering, the Community Relations Manager of AngloGold Ashanti, Edmund Oduro Agyei, described the Trade Show as a major catalyst for Obuasi’s economic transformation. He reaffirmed the Mine’s commitment to supporting the sustainability of the initiative as part of efforts to diversify the local economy.

Mr. Agyei highlighted the remarkable achievements of the Obuasi Trade Show (OTS) since its inception. These include:

• Training of over 1,000 businesses

• A direct investment of over GHS 1.8 million in MSME development

• Creation of 1,049 direct and indirect jobs

• Establishment of 168 new businesses

These milestones, he noted, demonstrate the significant impact of the OTS on Obuasi’s economic landscape.

He concluded by encouraging residents and entrepreneurs to take full advantage of the Trade Show to enhance their businesses and contribute to Obuasi’s economic growth.
