IERPP to present comprehensive review of 2026 Budget on Thursday, Nov. 20
The Institute of Economic Research and Public Policy (IERPP) will on Thursday, November 20, 2025, hold a major press conference to present its in-depth assessment of the Government of Ghana’s 2026 Budget Statement and Economic Policy.
The event, scheduled for 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Ghana International Press Centre in Accra (GiPC), will take place under the theme “The 2026 Budget: Ambitions, Pressures, and Possible Pitfalls.” It is expected to attract policymakers, journalists, civil society actors, and stakeholders eager to understand the broader implications of the budget presented to Parliament by the Finance Minister.
This year’s engagement will feature a panel of seasoned economists and policy analysts from the institute. Speakers include Professor Isaac Boadi, Dr. Frank Bannor, Dr. Kwasi Nyame-Baafi, and Dr. George Domfe — all respected voices in Ghana’s economic policy space.
They will break down all the core areas and components of the 2026 Budget, including macroeconomic performance and outlook; fiscal developments; revenue and expenditure measures; real sector performance; monetary policy and financial sector stability; energy sector developments and fiscal risks; sectoral allocations to education, health, agriculture, roads, and other priority ministries; infrastructure and capital projects; social protection and youth development programmes; digitalisation and public sector reforms; government priorities for the 2026 financial year; as well as the key risks and pressures that may affect the successful implementation of the Budget.
According to the institute, the upcoming programme aligns with its mission to promote transparent, fact-driven, and accountable economic governance. By subjecting the budget to rigorous, nonpartisan scrutiny, IERPP hopes to help the public better appreciate the government’s policy intentions while also highlighting areas that may require attention, adjustment, or further debate.
The press conference will be open to media houses across the country, with the full proceedings streamed live on all major social media platforms to ensure nationwide access. IERPP says the objective is to stimulate informed discussion around Ghana’s economic outlook for 2026 and to contribute to the broader national conversation on sustainable development under the current administration.
