NAIMOS TaskForce Deals Blow to Illegal Mining in Western Region

The National Anti-illegal Mining Operations Secretariat (NAIMOS) TaskForce has launched a successful dawn operation against illegal mining in the Western Region. On November 15, 2025, the task force raided a notorious galamsey site, nicknamed “Yellow face,” at Wassa Abrehyia, sending inhabitants fleeing.

The operation resulted in the destruction of makeshift structures and equipment used for illegal mining. The raid also uncovered massive use of illicit drugs and dynamites at the site.

NAIMOS vows to continue disrupting the activities of illegal miners and combating the illicit drugs menace in the region. The public is urged to join the fight against galamsey and help protect Ghana’s natural resources.
