President Mahama to Host Grenada Prime Minister for High-Level Bilateral Talks

President John Dramani Mahama will on Friday host the Prime Minister of Grenada, Honourable Dickon Mitchell, for crucial bilateral discussions at The Presidency, marking a significant milestone in Ghana-Grenada diplomatic relations.
The Grenadian leader is expected to arrive in Accra on Thursday, October 16, 2025, at 4:00 PM for a two-day official visit. Prime Minister Mitchell will be accompanied by a high-powered delegation including Grenada’s Chief of Staff, Minister for Foreign Affairs, Trade and Export Development, and other senior government officials.
The visit will commence with the inaugural Ghana-Grenada Political Consultation Meeting at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs shortly after the Prime Minister’s arrival on Thursday evening.
Friday’s agenda includes bilateral talks between the two leaders at The Presidency, followed by a State Luncheon hosted by President Mahama in honor of the visiting delegation. Prime Minister Mitchell is also scheduled to pay respects at the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park before his departure later on Friday.
The visit comes on the heels of significant diplomatic progress between the two nations. In 2024, Ghana and Grenada signed landmark bilateral agreements covering visa waivers and enhanced cooperation in culture, trade, and education sectors.
These agreements have paved the way for stronger people-to-people connections and increased economic collaboration between the West African nation and the Caribbean island state.
Grenada, known as the “Spice Isle,” is a volcanic Caribbean island country in the West Indies with St. George’s as its capital. The nation boasts lush rainforests, fertile agricultural land, mountains, and pristine beaches that drive its tourism-based economy. The country experiences two main seasons and offers world-class diving sites that attract visitors from around the globe.
The upcoming bilateral talks are expected to explore new avenues for cooperation and strengthen the existing partnership between Ghana and Grenada across multiple sectors.
