Volta Lake Accident: Wooden Canoes Should Not Be Used on Volta Lake – Nana Frimpong Ziega

Nana Frimpong Ziega is displeased with the use of a wooden canoe on the Volta Lake.
Speaking on Kessben with Kojo Preko Dankwah, He said the history of Volta Lake as being created in 1965 and it serves as the largest artificial reservoir, stretching to 6 regions, including the Northern, Oti, Savannah, and Bono Region.
He expressed his disappointment in using wooden Canoe on the Volta Lake for 68years, terming it as a failure in our country.
He claimed in 2 years, 11 boats have capsized, leading to numerous deaths. He said wooden canoes should not be allowed to transport people and cargo; rather, metallic bolts should be used.
He urged the government to take decisive action to reduce the rate of boat accidents in the country.
