Galamsey is now worse under the NDC Gov’t, I saw Bluewater Guard directing traffic – Sam Pyne, former Kumasi Mayor

Former Kumasi Mayor, Sam Pyne, has sounded the alarm over what he describes as a serious deterioration of the fight against illegal mining, commonly known as Galamsey, under the current NDC government.
Speaking on Kessben FM, Mr. Pyne painted a troubling picture of the situation, even making a startling claim:
“Galamsey is now worse under the NDC government. He said. “I saw a video of a Bluewater security guard directing traffic” Hon Sam Pyne added.
The mention of Bluewater, a security team contracted by the government to support efforts against illegal mining, was at the center of Mr. Pyne’s criticism. According to him, seeing a member of the anti-galamsey task force handling unrelated duties like traffic control reflects a lack of seriousness in addressing the environmental crisis.
Illegal mining has long been a contentious issue in Ghana, with devastating impacts on rivers, farmlands, and local communities. While both NPP and NDC administrations have pledged to tackle the menace, Mr. Pyne believes the current government has allowed the situation to spiral out of control.
He accused the NDC of failing to enforce regulations and turning a blind eye to illegal operations in many parts of the country.
Mr. Pyne challenged the government to show tangible results in the fight against galamsey and questioned the effectiveness of the current strategy. He urged the media and civil society to keep pressing for answers and accountability.
