Government is under pressure, using arrest of Wontumi & co as distraction – Hon. Andrew Bediako, Former MCE, Jaman South

Former Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Jaman South, Hon. Andrew Bediako, has alleged that the recent arrest of Chairman Wontumi and several others is a calculated move by the government to divert public attention from mounting pressure and dissatisfaction.

Speaking in a live interview on Kessben TV, Hon. Bediako stated bluntly, “The government has come under serious ppressure, that’s why they’re trying to shift attention by arresting Chairman Wontumi and co.”

According to the former MCE, the ruling administration is facing growing criticism over economic challenges, unemployment, and alleged corruption scandals. He claims that instead of addressing these pressing issues, the government is resorting to what he describes as “tactical distractions” to regain control of the public narrative.

The arrest of Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, a prominent regional chairman of the ruling party, has sparked debate across political lines. While authorities are yet to release full details surrounding the arrest, speculation is rife on social media and in political circles.

Hon. Bediako, who served under a previous administration, called on civil society and the media to remain vigilant and not allow the public discourse to be “hijacked by calculated diversions.”
