The August 6 helicopter crash sent shockwaves through Ghana, leaving several children without their parents. The establishment of the Children Support Fund represents a coordinated national response to ensure these young victims receive the care and support they need during this difficult period.
Dr. Sawyerr’s leadership in coordinating the fund has been instrumental in maintaining transparency and ensuring donations reach their intended beneficiaries. The diverse range of contributors – from major corporations to individual citizens – reflects the unity of purpose across Ghanaian society.
While the current donation total represents a significant achievement, the fund remains open to additional contributions as the long-term needs of the affected children continue to be assessed. The variety of payment options ensures that all Ghanaians, regardless of their preferred banking method, can participate in this national effort.
The success of the Children Support Fund serves as a testament to Ghana’s spirit of solidarity and collective responsibility in times of national tragedy. As the fund continues to grow, it provides hope and practical support for the children whose lives were forever changed by the events of August 6.
