Samuel Pyne Announces Candidacy for NPP National Vice-Chairperson
Story By Michael Ofosu-Afriyie, Kumasi.

Former Kumasi Mayor and New Patriotic Party (NPP) stalwart, Samuel Pyne, has confirmed his intention to run for the First National Vice-Chairperson position. His announcement comes ahead of the party’s upcoming nominations.
Speaking to reporters, Mr. Pyne stated that he has already consulted with key party figures about his aspirations and has received their full support.
”After serving the party for over four decades in various roles, from the polling station to the regional level, I believe the time is right to apply my experience and knowledge to help shape the national administration of the party,” Mr. Pyne said.
Passion and Strategy:
Mr. Pyne’s core passion is to share his expertise in organizational management, communication, and strategic planning with the party’s rank and file.
He also highlighted the critical need for a deliberate orientation program to ensure party members are fully grounded in the NPP’s core values and philosophy.
He emphasized that the NPP’s success throughout Ghana’s democratic history is rooted in its dedication to using governance as a tool for national development, focusing on both infrastructure and human resource empowerment.
”We have reached a point where it’s essential to actively educate and orient our members,” he explained.
“This will ensure they understand the ideals that make the NPP unique and inspire them to serve the party and the country with dedication, knowing their contributions will be recognized.”
Accomplishments:
Mr. Pyne’s long-standing service to the NPP began in 1992 when he was elected as a ward secretary.
His commitment continued as he was later elected to serve three consecutive terms as the Ashanti Regional Secretary.
During the second term of the Nana Akufo-Addo administration, Mr. Pyne was appointed Mayor of Kumasi.
In this role, he spearheaded significant infrastructure projects, particularly in the education sector.
He also led key international initiatives, including the Bloomberg Philanthropic Initiative and the Sub-Saharan Africa initiative on sustainable environment (HORESD).
These efforts helped raise the global profile of the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly and strengthened partnerships with international sister cities like Dortmund, Germany, and Dallas, USA.
