President Mahama Honored with Orchid Hybrid at Singapore’s National Orchid Garden

His Excellency President John Dramani Mahama was bestowed a prestigious honor during his official visit to Singapore, with a specially cultivated orchid hybrid named in his recognition at the renowned National Orchid Garden.

The naming ceremony took place at the Singapore Botanic Gardens, where the newly christened “*Vanda John Dramani Mahama*” was officially unveiled. The hybrid orchid will be permanently displayed in the garden’s exclusive “VIP Orchids” collection, joining other distinguished varieties named after world leaders and dignitaries.

During the ceremony, President Mahama signed the visitors’ book and received a comprehensive briefing about the garden’s rich history as part of his guided tour through the botanical sanctuary.

The National Orchid Garden has maintained a longstanding tradition of naming select orchid hybrids after visiting heads of state, heads of government, and other distinguished guests to the Singapore Botanic Gardens. This practice serves as both a diplomatic gesture and a living memorial to strengthen international relationships.

“The orchids represent more than their aesthetic appeal,” garden officials noted. “They symbolize Singapore’s journey of growth and transformation, creating a meaningful connection between our nation’s development and our honored guests.”

The *Vanda John Dramani Mahama* orchid will serve as an enduring symbol of the diplomatic ties between Ghana and Singapore, blooming as a testament to the friendship between the two nations for years to come.

The Singapore Botanic Gardens, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, continues to uphold this unique tradition of botanical diplomacy, with its VIP Orchids collection serving as a living gallery of international relations.
