African Diplomacy and Business Dialogue Set to Unlock AfCFTA Potential

The African Diplomacy and Business Dialogue (AfDiB 2025) is set to take place on September 3, 2025, at the Association of African Universities (AAU) premises in Accra. Organized by Salt University College (SUC), the event aims to harness African diplomacy for the success of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).

Key Objectives

Facilitate Discussions: Contribute to the realization of AfCFTA’s vision and foster networking among stakeholders.
Promote Collaboration: Bring together government agencies, diplomatic missions, trade organizations, academic institutions, private businesses, and individual citizens.
Unlock AfCFTA Potential: Explore ways to boost intra-African trade, drive investment flows, and support industrial growth.

Keynote Speaker and Panel Discussion

Professor Lord Mawuko Yevugah: Associate Professor of Political Economy and International Relations at GIMPA, will deliver the keynote address.
Dr. Emmanuel Dei-Tumi: Executive Director, Africa Future Leaders Institute of Global Affairs (AFLIGA), and Ms. Helen Appiah-Ampofo, Broadcast Journalist, TV3, will participate in a panel discussion.

AfCFTA: A Game-Changer for Africa

The AfCFTA Agreement has garnered significant interest, with 54 out of 55 African Union (AU) Member States signing the agreement and 48 ratifying it. Analysts project that a fully functional AfCFTA will:

Boost Intra-African Trade: Increase trade among African countries by over 50% in the next few years.
Drive Investment Flows: Support industrial growth, manufacturing, and job creation across sectors.
Encourage Value-Added Goods: Shift from exporting raw materials to producing and trading value-added goods.

Host Institution

SUC, founded in 2003, is a tertiary institution affiliated with GIMPA and University of Cape Coast (UCC). The institution has students from several African countries, including Angola, Congo (Brazzaville), Ghana, Kenya, Malawi, Mozambique, Nigeria, Uganda, the Republic of Benin, South Africa, and Togo.

The AfDiB 2025 promises to be a landmark event, bringing together stakeholders to unlock the full potential of AfCFTA and drive Africa’s economic transformation.
